Meet Mrs. McLeran
Please allow me to introduce myself! I’m Mrs. Laura McLeran and I have the pleasure of serving as Reading Specialist at Reed School. I spent my first 22 years at Reed teaching First Grade, which was wonderful preparation for my current position as Reading Specialist. I've enjoyed every aspect of being a classroom teacher over the years, but teaching reading was always my favorite part of the school day. It was the love of early literacy that drew me to teaching in the first place, so I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to concentrate my efforts in the area of reading instruction.
I am a local gal who grew up in Greenbrae and graduated from Redwood High. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree at Sonoma State University, my Multiple Subject Credential at Dominican University and my Masters’ of Education with Emphasis in Reading and Language at Sonoma State. I hold a Reading Specialist Credential, also earned at Sonoma State. I live in Novato with my husband, Brian and our Siamese cat, Shelby.
I've got lots of hobbies! I love to scuba dive, read, cook, eat in good restaurants, go on long walks and spend time with friends and family. Both my husband and I are active members of Rotary and enjoy working together in community service. I also have a weakness for new shoes, but that’s probably more than you need to know!
Now you know a little about me. I'll look forward to getting to know you and your child as the year unfolds!
